This walking adventure will cover much of the Puerto Vallarta historic tourist zone from the Stadium down to Conchas Chinas beach area.  This includes many areas of 5 Decembre, El Centro, Gringo Gulch, Emiliano Zapata, Romantic Zone, Alta Vista, Conchas Chinas, the Malecon, Cemetery, the Mirador, several parks, and two traditional mercados.  It is a long trip (6 to 8 miles) but we walk it at a very casual pace and stop often to chat about what we see or experience.  

 

We will stop for lunch at a local family's Mexican restaurant (not included) and relax for up to an hour before continuing to walk.  

 

Restroom opportunities are endless and most cost 10 peso.  Stores and Tiendas are everywhere.  

 

Each time we walk this adventure we may walk a slightly different route.  We do like to mix it up and there are just so many different possible routes with interesting stairways and small cobblestone streets we are always trying to optimize routes.  Some of the highlights of this walking adventure may include: The sports complex, fire station, Libramento, cemetery, traditional mercardos, full service Mexican grocery store, teatro, Malecon, chocolate factory, The Lookout, Richard Burton Elizabeth Taylor House, Romantic Zone,  favorite restaurants, favorite birria and barbacoa, Doctors, dentists, Pharmacies, Churches, Art Galleries.  
 

We will conclude the tour around 4:00 PM possibility in Conchas Chinas or the Romantic Zone.

 ESSENTIALS

• Walking Difficulty: Moderate  (long walk with some dirt paths, broken and cracked sidewalks with often changing elevations and hills and stairs) - taking the stairs to the Mirador makes this adventure "Advanced" But those not wanting to climb all the stairs may wait below in a cafe.  But the view is highly recommended.  

• Meet at 10AM in the Hotel Zone South  (exact location and directions will be in your email confirmation after reserving.)​

• We conclude the walking adventure around  4 PM 

• Wear comfortable walking shoes and have water or other hydration. 

• Bring a rain umbrella (rainy season June to October) and recommended for hot sunny days for personal shade.  We do not cancel when it rains we celebrate - It is approximately  5 degrees  cooler during a rainstorm.  We may consider a cancellation in the event of a hurricane. 

• In the unlikely event we only have 1 participant for the tour, we will not cancel  - our guides do not like to stay home.  

• Lunch (not included) usually around 1 PM

• Bring Pesos for shopping - many of the smaller merchants do not take cards.  

• Price is $45 per person ($49.50) in 2024) with prepaid reservation or $50 ($55 2024) payable to the trip leader.  

• Price does not include customary tip for the adventure leader.  We recommend at least 20%
